Binh Duong province will become a centrally-governed city
(NLDO) – The Prime Minister approved the Binh Duong Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, stating that by 2030, Binh Duong will become a centrally-run city; one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers of the Southeast Asian region.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed the Prime Minister’s decision approving the Binh Duong Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Planning).
By 2030, Binh Duong will become a city directly under the Central Government.
The decision clearly states the general goal that by 2030, Binh Duong will become a centrally-governed city; one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers of Southeast Asia; a leader in science, technology and innovation, and a modern industrial and service center.
Specific economic goals: average economic growth rate in the 2021-2030 period will reach about 10%/year, average GRDP per capita in 2030 will reach about 15,800 USD.
Population by 2030 will reach 4.04 million people (of which official population is 3.48 million people; converted population is 0.56 million people).
To achieve the above goals, the Plan sets out 5 key tasks and development breakthroughs.
Accordingly, Binh Duong needs to coordinate with national development programs, the Southeast Region and neighboring localities to expand traffic connections, especially connections to seaports (Cai Mep Thi Vai, Can Gio), international airports (Tan Son Nhat, Long Thanh), international border gates (Moc Bai – Tay Ninh, Hoa Lu – Binh Phuoc).
Successfully transforming the growth model from breadth to depth through innovation, modern science and technology, along with widespread digital transformation in production and operations, improving the quality and efficiency of growth.
At the same time, training improves the quality of human resources, promotes the development of cultural industries, and builds breakthrough mechanisms to attract and utilize talents.
Greening the economy (green production, green consumption, green transportation, green infrastructure, green cities, green countryside, environment…) through the guidance of science and technology, thereby creating an economy in harmony between humans, nature and society.
In addition, Binh Duong will divide the development of the whole province into 3 dynamic spatial areas.
Area 1 (including Thuan An City and Di An City): carry out urban reconstruction and renovation; relocate outdated and environmentally polluting production and industrial establishments to the North of the province.
Region 2 (including Thu Dau Mot City, Tan Uyen City, Ben Cat City and Bau Bang District): development based on innovation, advanced technology, regional community services and smart urban areas as pillars for the province’s growth;
Area 3 (including Bac Tan Uyen, Phu Giao, Dau Tieng districts): forming new generation industrial parks, attracting the development of urban – industrial – ecological service models. Preserving and developing ecological corridors of Saigon River, Dong Nai River, Thi Tinh River, etc.
Developing new urban and service areas in Tan Uyen, Thu Dau Mot, Di An, Thuan An, creating space to gradually redevelop existing urban areas, moving logistics activities in the Region to the area along Ring Road 4 – Ho Chi Minh City area; developing the public transport network of the Region, province and urban areas according to the public transport orientation (TOD).
